The Eastern-Wednesdays

The Eastern Hotel is one of the most famous Wednesday night destinations in Sydney. It is located in the heart of Bondi, on oxford street, in what seems the most unlikely of destinations for a small looking nightclub to pump into all hours of thursday morning, but somehow this magical place has transformed the Wednesday nights of Bondi into something almost anyone can tell you they've experienced.

The first time I heard of the Eastern Hotel, I though someone was playing a bad joke, he described this multi-leveled night club that erupted into a frenzy of men and women dancing their socks of...but only on wednesdays...how was this possible? why would Wednesday be the busiest night for any sort of night club?... You see it has long been known that on saturdays you head into the City, or the golden mile...(aka Kings Cross) and for this reason Bondi has never really been able to compete with the countless bars and clubs in other areas...and somehow Wednesday nights were born.

The Eastern has 4 levels. The bottom level is a chilled out bar. Pool tables, games and enough room to have a casual drink with the boys. The 2nd level is hip-hop and rnb. This consists of a large room, with a double sided bar on onside, with booths behind it...which are used for the restaurant the eastern runs through the day. This is the level that opens first on Wednesdays. It pumps the old school and the new stuff, tending to draw some of the best dance moves I've seen in Sydney. The 3rd floor is dance music. This floor is another large room, with a bar on one side, horizontal to the dance floor. This floor also has the outside area for smokers. The outside area is probably one of the only let downs of the Eastern. Their isn't really much a view, and you're forced to stare at yourself through a bunch of oversized mirrors. The 4th floor is really a mixture of anything. Sometimes their will be guest lists that only permit those on the guest list to go upstairs, while other times it will be just another room with another DJ pumping tunes.

Overall the only problem I have with the Eastern Hotel is the fact that its in Bondi. Almost every time we've been their we've needed a designated driver, simply because it takes far to long to get their via public transport. A train to town hall, then another train to Bondi = trek.

Other than that, the Eastern Hotel is a great place to be on Wednesday nights. It has this good feel vibe, that somehow feels extremely safe with an abundance of security. The drinks aren't to expensive, and the music is brilliant. The crowd is also extremely chilled...it seems no one there works on Thursdays?

THE EPPING RSL AND HOTEL

Want a good place to just hang out and chill mates?? Maybe have a few cheap drinks and a bit of a dance?? Well, The Epping RSL and Hotel is the place to be. The RSL and the Hotel are located pretty much opposite each other, however it isn't a complete night without going to both places.

The best night for this is on a wednesday night. Many school and university students flock to the venue, to catch up with mates and even meet new ones. From personal experience, it is best to start at Epping RSL. The $3.50 drinks up until 11pm, will keep u drinking all night long. Also there is also an opportunity for you to gamble on various games including blackjack and roulette. Another great feature of the RSL is they have a big screen, and a few smaller screens, to show various sports on. One of their big events is State of Origin night. During nights like this they have many special offers to promote their RSL.  There is also some great music going on in the background, which allows you to get into the mood of dancing at The Epping Hotel.

After having a few drinks at The Epping RSL, it is essential that you visit The Epping Hotel. It consists of two floors. Upstairs is the place to sit down, relax and have a few drinks. Downstairs, aka Tracks, is known for its great music and dance floor. The techno beats playing allow for some made shuffling and gabbering whilst trying to impress a friend. The drinks, however, are a little more expensive but still remains a reasonable price.

Both The Epping RSL and Hotel are a personal favourite of mine as it allows me to catch up with old school mates and current university mates. I would highly recommend going there on a wednesday night, during school and university holidays, to experience this great location first hand!!

HOME NIGHTCLUB!!!

If you are out on a saturday night and wondering what to do, well your answer is to hit up Home Nightclub. It is located in the heart of Darling Harbour and is definitely the must see club in the whole of Sydney.

Home is one of the largest clubs in the southern hemisphere and is arguably one of the most unique venues. With it's spectacular views, overlooking Darling Harbour, Home incorporates an innovative design throughout it's 3 floored club. However, the best part of Home Nightclub is the rooftop terrace. This is where you can easily admire the breathtaking view of Darling Harbour, while enjoying a drink or two with mates. Indoors, the club is beautiful. It contains 3 floors, which contain several rooms. Each room contains it's own DJ, dance floor and bar. Home also contains a few rooms where you can sit down and enjoy a few drinks with mates.

Home is always packed with people so you are destined to meet some new people whom which you can dance and drink with. The DJ's are excellent and they play a variety of music. Music like Hip Hop/RnB and Techno/House. The dance floor space is massive, however can get a bit crowded because of the masses of people that attend such a great club. Unfortunately, drink prices are expensive. However, these prices are consistent with any other club in Darling Harbour. My personal recommendation would be to drink a lot at a more mellow place, like Pavilion Hotel, and then head over to Home Nightclub for a dance and maybe a few more drinks.

From my personal experience I would definitely suggest a visit to Home Nightclub as it ended up being one of the best nights I have ever had in Darling Harbour.

The Ivy.

Ivy is located in the heart of the city. It is one of the most well known night clubs in Sydney, and provides an experience like no other. Ivy is known for its class. To get in you need (at the bear minimum) men need to be wearing a collared shirt, nice jeans, and leather shoes. Most men choose to wear stylish jackets or vests, and usually most of them seem overdressed as if they just came from a wedding. For the women women...well women will get in anywhere these days, yet most in Ivy are the sophisticated type who more than likely will be wearing a savvy dress accompanied by heels.

Ivy is unique. With a famous "door girl" who decides whether you are in fact worthy enough of entering her so called palace that you aren't even able to judge from the back ally anyway. You walk down what seems to be a mysterious ally that leads no where, and find yourself lining up once u turn the corner. If you do make it past the door girl and countless bouncers, then you walk up a large stair case to the court yard. (The Ivy pool bar is another blog in itself) The courtyard consists of two levels, 3 bars, and one DJ stage. The dance floor is in the centre of the courtyard, but people seem to be dancing all over the show, mainly because of how crowded Ivy gets, and believe me it gets crowded.

Ivy is so crowded in fact, that it actually ruins the dance floor. You see, there's always been good crowded, but Ivy becomes over-crowded. Your personal dancing space is far to small to bust out the moves you want, and for this reason most people end up just moving side to side. This also makes it increasingly difficult for people to "pick up." Another reason for this, is the type of crowd in Ivy. Not making any stereo-types at all, however the majority of the people at Ivy seem stuck-up, and walk around as if they are better than you and anyone else they pass. I'm not so sure about you, but this makes me feel a little uneasy, not that I would ever get involved with such people, but the fact that the security at Ivy are known for taking people down to the basement when they misbehave, and I'd rather not find myself in such a predicament.

On the top level, there is also the "den." The den is my favourite part of Ivy. Why? well because I like to "chill" and the "den" is extremely chilled. There's classy tables, cooler glasses for your drinks and the music changes. You also have a good view of downstairs, and its generally were you'd go if you wanted to take a break from all the dancing...and smoke, because theirs no smoking in the "den"...but thats about the only place where theres no smoking.

A good or bad thing about Ivy is the fact that it has no roof. So essentially it feels outdoor? well no it actually feels indoor? but somehow is outdoor?...the main perk of this of course is the fact that people can smoke, anywhere they like. Now for some people this is great, for others they'd rather not be in the midst of smoke and ash and the possibility that your clothes could get burnt by someone being so close their cigarette touches you. Personally I don't really mind. A major downside to no roof in my opinion, is if it rains. Yes I have been at Ivy and it has rained. I was not happy.

Overall, Ivy is an awesome experience. However you can't help but get annoyed and the overcrowded crowd who tend to dominate your experience week in week out. It's a shame, however its all part of Ivy

PAVILION HOTEL!!!!

Have you ever wondered how to start off the perfect night?? Maybe where to go for some cheap pre-drinks?? Well, Pavilion Hotel is your answer. With the combination of great music and cheap drinks, it's the perfect way to kick start what will turn out to be an awesome night.

Pavilion is located on one of the most famous streets in Sydney, George Street. The location is excellent, in that it is right next to town hall station and is also opposite the cinemas. This terrific location makes it easy to get to and then it allows for easy access to other clubs around George Street or even at Kings Cross.

Affectionately known as 'The Pav', Pavilion is one of the most popular bars in Sydney. Many Sydneysiders love to go there, to either kick start their night or to enjoy a quite night with mates. The many people that go to Pav love the easy going atmosphere, affordable food and drinks. Another great feature is that they offer free games of pool, which most other venues do not offer.

However, the best part of Pav is the combination of extremely cheap drinks and pumping music. Most drinks are around the $3.50 mark with shots being about $1.50 more. This is definitely one of the cheapest places to go to, especially considering it is in the city. Inside Pavilion, it is extremely spacious. This allows for a big dance floor, where people can show off their amazing talents. This along with the fantastic music being played, by some of the best eclectic DJ's, enables party goers to have the perfect start to the night.

My overall experience at 'The Pav' was extremely enjoyable and it allowed my mates and I to go onto enjoy the rest of what would be a terrific night!!
